Giving Update – Summer 2022

A growing family of supporters are continuing to recognize the importance of our work with gifts, both financial and in-kind. In addition to the $250,000 State grant championed by Senator Patricia Billie Miller (27th District, Stamford), the $50,000 grant from The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation, and the $500 donation from the Rotary Club of Danbury, we are grateful to report the following extended list of donors who have most recently joined SJPC to help us in our aim to make sure all parents have the support, tools and resources they need to do the best by their children.

■ Special thanks to Danbury’s Chick-fil-a, Elmer’s Diner, Central Christian Church, Mutual Security Bank, St. Mary’s Church and the Columbiettes for donating meals for the DAD program at our Danbury Center. The meals enhance the culture of nurturing so important to the success of the program. For many of our clients, it is also their only meal. Thanks to Stew Leonard’s as well for their in-kind donations.

■ When you honor others, they learn to honor themselves and pay it forward in all areas of their lives (including parenting!). With the homemade meal St. Rose Bible Study Group prepared and served at our Danbury Center Mother’s Day celebration, and the potted plants and gift bags for each of our moms they provided, that is exactly what the Group helped us do.

■ The Danbury community came out with tremendous support for our summer drive in which volunteers collected $950 of diapers, wipes and toys for our clients’ children. It is incredible to see the hope and lift these small gifts give our clients as they work to build their parenting knowledge.

■ Thank you to Saint Bridget’s for continuing their kind tradition of donating 60 toiletry gift bags for our Stamford Center moms and dads in honor of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

■ Thanks to the Ridgefield Playhouse and their gift of two complimentary tickets to The Mavericks Tour En Español, we were able to incentivize clients to complete the full spring parenting course. All parents who completed the course were entered into a drawing for the tickets.

■ When we help parents, we help their kids and vice versa! As part of SJPC’s ongoing effort to bring opportunities to the children of our clients, in further support of the efforts our moms and dads make to enhance their parenting, the child of a client interested in musicals is attending ACT of CT Summer Performance Camp in July. We are grateful to ACT of CT for this kind donation and for joining us in recognizing the important role these type of in-kind donations fill.
